An African mask workshop took place where children learnt the history of the masks and about the special wood that was used to carve them. The children painted African masks using a traditional technique using dots of paint. Children had the opportunity to look at examples of masks already painted and modelled their designs on these examples, some children were very creative and designed their own!

There was also an African dance workshop where children listened to traditional African music and learnt dance moves. After practicing, children came together and put on a wonderful performance of their African dances.

Each class has been assigned a country to represent and we are doing that by making the flag of the chosen country, wearing clothes which are the colour of the chosen country's flag and preparing a national dish. Everyone had the chance to taste  food made by the other classes and at lunchtime we tried some exciting dishes from different countries such as masala fish, chicken chow mein and lamb tagine.
